Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about booking, payments, and visiting Tahquamenon Falls by shuttle.
Is shuttle service first come, first served?
Valid any shuttle this day in your direction — be at your pickup stop a few minutes before departure. First come, first served boarding. Starting in 2027, online bookings will have priority — customers who booked online will be served first.
Can I pay online or at the shuttle?
Pay online (Visa or MasterCard) or at the shuttle when you board. You can also pay later at huntertransportation.net/pay using your confirmation code. Save your confirmation page or email — your HT code works offline at the park where cell service is limited. We text updates when carrier messaging is active.
Do I need cell service at the park?
Save this page (Print above) or your confirmation email. Your HT code works offline at the park — you do not need cell service to show it at the shuttle. Your confirmation text or email shows your HT code and payment status — show either at the shuttle. You can also print or save your confirmation page from the link in your message.
Do I need a Recreation Passport?
Vehicles entering Tahquamenon Falls State Park must display a valid Michigan Recreation Passport or obtain a day pass. Michigan DNR — Recreation Passport
Can I bring pets on the shuttle?
Pets are prohibited in state park buildings and facilities operated by the concession, except service animals as defined under 28 CFR 36.104. Service animals are welcome at no additional charge. Non-service animals permitted on the shuttle, when offered, are $5 each, subject to park rules and DNR approval. Infants under 24 months ride free when held on a lap with a paying adult. Infants still count toward shuttle capacity.
Can I bring bikes, kayaks, or camping gear?
Yes — starting July 21, 2026, camping gear, bikes, kayaks, and canoes can ride in our enclosed trailer (dry haul). Equipment fees are add-ons on top of the passenger fare — see the rates page or add pieces when you book. Capacity is limited; boats must be clean–drain–dry, and e-bike batteries ride in the cabin. Call (906) 291-3422 to reserve trailer space if you are unsure.
Do you haul snowmobiles in winter?
Yes — call or text (906) 291-3422 to arrange. One trail sled is $150 one-way ($263 same-day round trip). A second sled is $250 total one-way only when weight allows — we confirm before dispatch. This is not online checkout and not the in-park falls shuttle. Details: huntertransportation.net/snowmobile.
Can you haul two snowmobiles?
Sometimes. Our day-to-day tow vehicle has a limited cargo budget after the enclosed trailer dry weight (~1,289 lb). We confirm sled models, fuel, and gear weight before we commit to two sleds. Call (906) 291-3422 with your sled details.
Which days can I book online vs call on-call?
In-season shuttle runs Memorial Day weekend through the second weekend in October. Online reservations open April 1; pay online from May 10. Regular days: opening weekends, daily peak season, and fall weekends. Some weekdays are on-call by phone at (906) 291-3422. When can I book a morning shuttle online?
Morning windows (8 AM–12 PM) must be booked at least the day before your trip. For a next-morning pickup, book before noon Eastern on the prior day — after that, call (906) 291-3422 to check availability. Same-day morning trips are not available online. Standard hours (roughly noon–6 PM, extended in peak season) do not require this extra step. How in-park reservations work
